BURNSIDE ROTARY CLUB MEETING WEDNESDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2023
Topic – Water and Sanitation project in 2 schools in Zimbabwe.
Sigrid gave an inspiring presentation on the work Norwood Rotary Club, Rotary E-Club Harare, No Barriers Education Foundation and Rotary International have done to provide safe drinking water and showers Hwata Secondary School.
Muzaeabani High School also involved in the project.
INTENDED IMPACT:
Supply safe water, improve ability to prepare daily school meals, Grow vegetables on school garden to supplement school meals.
Improve ability for practical training in agriculture in community garden, Positive impact on teacher’s wellbeing and motivation they will enjoy improved water and toilet facilities while living in school compound.
Conditions in both schools very unsatisfactory before Rotary project. In Hwata school, existing bore not deep enough, manual pump, hard to operate. Poor quality of water.
After work completed students now have safe drinking water and upgraded toilet facilities.
