Another great day with attendance remaining at 22-23.
Good to see some new attendees and the regular guests.
Guest Speaker was Michael Vullings from Pineview Retirement Village. Michael spoke about the different types of Retirement living arrangements. He emphasised that village all vary on what they can provide. Doing research on the various villages is important so you know hat you will be getting and the cost.
Retirement villages allow you to get a unit, but you do not own the unit but a license to live there. Michael said many people enjoy living in Retirement villages for the company and social activities. But of course, it is not for everyone.
Michael covered the many different aspects of Retirement villages but again research is important. We were very grateful for Michael’s presentation as it provided food for thought. The presentation was very well received, and we hope to have Michael again in 2025.
For lunch, this month to supplement the sandwiches from Tony and Marks we bought bread, ham and cheese and made up extra. Big thank you to Angela, Maria, Trish, and Pam for making up the sandwiches and cutting up the fruit. All the sandwiches went very quickly with compliments for the ham and cheese.
Christine again took the Yoga chair exercises which people enjoy.
November 21st 2024 is the last Community Wellness event for 2024. The guest speaker is Marcus from Red Cacao is a chocolate making. He will be speaking about how he got into chocolate making and his training in Europe. Marcus will have samples of his chocolates as well as chocolate to purchase. Great Christmas gift ideas.
We will re commence the Community Wellness Hub 20th February 2025. We have 4-5 guest speakers already booked for 2025.
The City of Burnside continues to be a fantastic supporter of this event, and we are very grateful.
Thank you to the team of volunteers on Thursday, without their help the event would not be so successful.
Margie Maloney.
