Our guest speaker was Helen Bills, who is the Journal Editor for the Burnside Historical Society and she was accompanied by her husband Roger, who is President of that Society.
Helen gave a really interesting talk, illustrated by great visuals of lesser known Historical facts around our local Council area.
History is all around us and just another reason that we enjoy where we live.
Helen obviously has a great passion for what she does and that really came through with her talk. The Historical Society meets monthly and at their last meeting had 75 present.
Our Dave Harrison added to the presentation with a few photographs of his own, of bread delivery vehicles from Linn’s where his father worked, of horse drawn delivery carts and electric vehicles going back 70 or 80 years.
Helen was keen to get the message across, for our generation to not let the next generation just throw these valuable pieces of history out when they are sorting out their inheritances and to donate these to the Historical Society now, before our children get their hands on them not appreciating what they are.
