On Wednesday 20th August 2025 we had the opportunity to tour the Wakefield Street Fire Station. Our tour guides, Kim and Braden, were very informative.
It was interesting to see the different fire trucks designed for different roles. We had a chance to see inside the trucks and how they all worked. Amazing. The amount of equipment they carry is also interesting, catering for many different situations.
The station complex itself is very large with training facilities and sleeping quarters. It was interesting to see the ‘pole’ that the Fireman used when called to man the fire trucks. Both Heather and Brian had the privilege of climbing into a Fire truck to see firsthand how it feels to be so high up.
It was an interesting tour and many thanks to both Murray and Brian for organising the tour.
We then proceeded to the Arab Steed Hotel on Hutt Street for a most delicious lunch. It is always a great opportunity to chat with other members. A most memorable day.
