August 21st, the team of Brian W, Heather C, Ana K, and Brian H from the club under the captaincy of John Caddy provided sausage sizzle sustenance to the brave students who were preparing to sleep out for the night in the open area of the University of Adelaide Plaza. Di Wilkins assisted by Alfredo Cabada and Brenton Whittenbury from the Rotary Club of Adelaide provided soup to further fortify. The volunteer students had to raise sponsorship to take part. At $30 they were provided with a mat to sleep on, $50 they got a blanket, and onreaching $100 they received a beanie hat.
If they raised $300, they entered a draw to receive a camping swag. The organiser said that all the students had raised significant amounts many over $1000.
The proceeds go to St Vincent De Paul, the charity for the homeless. The sausage sizzle we provided was well received, as was the hot soup.
A good example of what Rotary does.
