On Saturday the 8th of November, the team was out early at the Christmas Pageant – one of Adelaide’s great traditions. It was an outstanding day, with Channel 7 reporting the largest crowd in a decade. We sold out of toffee apples, had no wastage, and raised over $3,000! Well done to the entire team, and to JC for leading from the hotplate. Personally, I had a lot of fun on the day. It’s heartwarming to feel the Christmas spirit blossoming among young families — children smiling, parents chatting, and many enjoying a good old Rotary BBQ snag. Perhaps, too, each of us relived a little of the joy and wonderment of the Pageant from our younger days. What really stood out to me was the seamless teamwork – snags delivered before payment even cleared (putting “fast” back into “fast food”!) – all with a bit of cheeky competition and good humour among the crew.
