Habitat Boxes for the Scouts Woodhouse Activity Centre.

In December and January 2023 tools and plywood were purchased for the construction of Habitat boxes. Volunteer Members of the Burnside Rotary Club met up to cut out the patterns for the Habitat Boxes. Of the wood purchased a large amount was donated by the Timber company. Paint brushes and paint purchased.

Money for the Habitat Boxes was obtained from Burnside Rotary Club funds that were matched by a district grant. Approximately 90 Habitat boxes were cut out as flat packs. The flat packs were taken to the Scouts Woodhouse Activity Centre and present to Simon Frederick for the scouts to construct. Habitat Boxes vary in size depending on the species of bird and also for bats and possums.

    Donation to Baptist Care:

The Burnside Rotary Club presented Stefano Tocci with 20 Sleeping Bags and sleeping mats to supply much needed bedding to people that have found themselves homeless following retrenchment after the pandemic or unable to afford rental accommodation resulting from the spiraling cost of housing and rents. Donation was also given to purchased emergency food packages.

Emergency Food Package available to families in need.

An application was made to Rotary district for a matching grant to provide more equipment to Baptist Care. From a donation from a Burnside Rotary member plus additional funding from the Burnside Rotary club the district approval a grant to provide an Air Conditioner in the kitchen. Baptist Care provide up to 150 meals a day and the kitchen is very small and hot during the summer months. More money was donated for additional emergency food packages as funding at Baptist Care had been cut and people were being turned away.

We have great pleasure in supporting Baptist Care and the amazing work they do for the homeless. We will continue to support Baptist Care well into the future as the need is only getting greater.
