    Past Club Projects

The Rotary Club of Burnside is involved in many projects in the “Rotary Areas of Focus”.
These projects include youth, our community, environment & health locally and internationally.

Despite the challenges that Covid-19 threw up to us, in the 20/21 Rotary Year our club still managed to raise over $26,000 to put towards these projects and causes. Here’s a few highlights.

As always, supporting our local youth in their educational, sporting and leadership development was a key focus. With support for students to attend the National Youth Science Forum and test themselves by sailing on the One & All as part of the Rotary Youth Sailing program we saw some incredible results.

Locally, the Rotary Club of Burnside endeavored to hold the Seniors Christmas lunch at the Burnside Town Hall. Covid had other plans, and the event was postponed until May of 2021 for a Christmas themed lunch. Normally this event attracts over 120 local seniors for a 2 course lunch and drinks but restrictions meant numbers were reduced to around 80 guests. The Christmas lunch was again held 2022 with great success and enjoyed by all the guests.

Through Rotary International we also support a number of organisational initiatives.

ROMAC (Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children) aims to provide children of our neighboring countries specialist medical care for those at risk of severe deterioration or even death. Here in South Australia, two children from the Solomon Islands were supported in life-saving heart surgery this year.

The Rotary Foundation continues its fantastic work across the globe with the “End Polio” focus being top priority. With only a handful of recorded polio sufferers noted, and generous backing from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, this major project is making a concerted effort to knock this dreaded disease out. The Rotary Club of Burnside provides a significant contribution to the Foundation each year.
